How to Earn a HaloCharts LeaderBoard (LB) Ban

What is boosting and what are we Banning people for?

Boosting can be generalized as manipulating the gain (or loss) of EXP while playing Halo 3 in match made games.

EXP Boosting:
We have a set number of games that we look for before we will issue a ban for EXP boosting. We do not ban folks for boosting social prior to TU-2 (Sept. 23rd 2008)

Why are we not divulging the number of games that we are looking for?   Because if we tell you a set number then you will go out and think it is OK to boost one less game and we don’t want you to boost any games, so just go under the assumption that we are looking for 1 boosted EXP for post TU2 and 2 boosted games Pre TU2 and you will be safe.

Boosting of Medals, Kills, Achievements etc.:
Any game in which it is clear that people were colluding to boost any medal is considered boosting.  All players involved will receive a ban from the Social and or Ranked LBs.

Note: The reason for including players that did not get medals or kills is that they affected the outcome of the game, which falls under manipulating the gain (or loss) of EXP.

Tying games to get EXP (also includes split parties):
There needs to be sufficient data to warrant a LB ban for this.  If it is obvious that a group is playing in matchmaking that has more people than one teams worth of players and they continue to tie games, then they are guilty of EXP boosting and should get a LB ban.

Note: We understand that people get split up, that is why we want to see enough data to support that you are actually doing this on purpose.  My advise to you is, play the game whether you are split from your party or not.

Use of an idle controller(s):
This is considered taking advantage of the system to boost your exp by guaranteeing at least a one place higher finish.

Negative EXP boosters & Delevelers:
A player that has negative EXP will be auto banned from any and all LBs here at HaloCharts.  If you use the negative EXP method to start your account off don’t plan to ever be a part of the HaloCharts LBs.

Deleveling in any ranked playlist will also ear you the right to never appear on our LBs.

Playing with a negative EXP booster or Deleveler to rank up faster:
This is considered taking advantage of the system to boost your rank.  If we see that you used this nefarious method to gain a 50 or boost your skill significantly, then you will earn a ban from All LBs.

Deleveling in any Ranked Playlist:
Again, this is considered taking advantage of the system, but this time it is taking advantage of players with less skill than you.  We at HaloCharts consider this boosting of HCS and for that you will earn a ban from All LBs.

Circle Boosting, Language Boosting, Bridging etc.:
All of these forms of boosting pertain to taking a whole team* into MM with the intent of one team winning and gaining rank and the other team quitting out or doing something of that nature to lose.  We see a lot of this is in the harder playlists to get a 50 in. People cannot resist a 50 in MLG so they cheat and thus we remove them from our LBs.

*This also includes Lone Wolves.  If we receive enough evidence supporting that 2 or more players are colluding in that playlist, we will issue an All LB ban.

Setting Your Country to one that you do not live in
I know this sounds stupid but some people like to be funny and change their country to Kazakhstan so than can be #1 in Borats' country, or some other country.
If you do this and we find out, we will first change your country for you.  You will receive a message informing you that we changed it and tell you not to change it again.  If you decide it is just too funny to resist and change it back, you will get a LB ban with no questions asked.

Selling of Accounts
Any of the following things will result in an immediate and permanent Ban from all LBs:
- Advertising the sale of your account anywhere.  Using HaloCharts in the advertisement may also get you a perm ban from HC.
- Accounts listed as being boosted by an account leveler.

- Accounts listed for sale anywhwere.

Questionable Banning Topics

Objective holding:
Sure, the people that do this are complete and utter stat boosters, but it has been decided that it is far too subjective to issue a LB ban.

What to expect when you receive your well earned LB ban

Social Ban:

1. Permanent ban from all Social LeaderBoards.

2. Permanent ban from EXP LeaderBoards.

3. Your player page: It will be updated with the following note: “ * player has been banned from social leaderboards”.

All LB Ban:

Any boosting of any medal, rank or achievement in a Ranked MM playlist will permanently result in the following:

1. Permanent ban from All LeaderBoards.

2. Your player page: It will be updated with the following note: “ * player has been banned from All leaderboards”.

*Note* All LB Bans are game specfic in other words Halo 3 Bans do not follow to Halo Reach

What to do if you get a LB Ban

- Ask yourself if you boosted or cheated.
- Ask yourself if you would believe the excuse you are about to give us.
- Ask yourself if it is really worth getting banned form the site for complaining in the forums or chat box.

Once you have asked yourself these questions and you are still not satisfied with yourself,  send a Private Message (PM) to EgonSpenglerPHD.

If I respond, here is a preview of the response you will get.

- My team has deemed that your boosting is worthy of a LB ban.  The ban is permanent and not up for debate.

Special Note: A LB ban is not the end of the world.  You can still enjoy the forums, chat box, shout box, download stats, join and participate in groups, participate in HC challenges, etc.

Also, we get a lot of complaints that people want their money back for becoming a Supporter when they get a ban.  That is absolutely not going to happen.  Nothing that you received from becoming a supporter was taken away from your account when you received a LB ban.

Frequently asked Questions

Q: I only boosted a couple of games and have played over 10,000 games.  How is that fair?

A: The leaderboards don't know how many games you have played, so boosting is boosting.

Q: I went on vacation and my pet hampster played on my account while I was gone.  Is my ban gonna stay, since it wasn't me playing?

A: You are responsible for your account no matter the circumstances.

Q: I have been banned from the leaderboards for 6 months now.  Can I have my ban lifted, now?

A: All bans are permanent.

Q: I only boosted a couple of games and they happened a long time ago.  Can I just get those games removed so I can be on the leaderboards?

A: We have no way of doing that.  You boosted, and will have to suffer the consequences.

More to come...
